Stewarts and Lloyds traveled down to Luton to face Stockwood Park. There was a degree of uncertainty before the game as to how it would end up. Because although Stockwood park are near the bottom of the league, S&L were forced to field there most inexperienced side of the season so far.
But as soon as the game got under way a neutral spectator could have easily mistaken this young team for the more experienced side, which had been disrupted by many injuries and in availabilities.
The key factor for Saturday's performance was that the visitors did not panic, and showed great composure when things didn't go according to plan. The situation in the league before the game dictated that S&L needed to win, but also score as many points as possible.
The first half was very much 50-50 as S&L seemed to have not got over the journey yet. But with the wind at the visitors backs it was quite easy to keep the home side playing out of there own half as the pressure grew on Stockwood parks line the visitors shoved the opposing pack over there line to get the first score from Simon Parker, the next score was when the sharpness of Richard Knight put him in the right position the field a loose ball and go over the line, a conversion and a penalty from greig cook put the half time score to 15-0.
The second half saw the S&L backs get a bit more ball at the right time and they easily exploited the weaknesses out wide. With tries from Greig Cook and two from Paul Webster. Then in the dying seconds John Ironmonger was on hand to cross the line courtesy of a break from Andy Beattie. Cook was on target with three on the conversion with finished the scoring at 41-0.
S&L will be confident of clinching a play off spot going into the last three fixtures as the contenders for the play off spot have slumped in form of late and have the least favorable of remaining fixtures. And with S&L just 4 points adrift on the points difference it is very much an open competition.
