S&L 21 Old Scouts 0
S&L play off hopes are still alive as they comprehensively beat the team above them in the league. On a pitch that was slippery on the top, S&L got off to a great start, as they drove down the hill deep into Scouts 22 from the kick off, ball from the ruck and scrum half Tom Green nipped through a gap to score, Kirk Lindsay adding the extras.
S&L were getting the better of the Scouts pack, winning their own ball, and stealing Scouts line out regularly, although Scouts were playing with a strong wind behind them. The weather then intervened and heavy rain turned the pitch into a skating ring, the team that handled the conditions would end up winners. S&L defended well for the duration of the half to go in with a slender half time lead.
Scouts started the 2 nd half brightly, but S&Ls pack started to put the pressure on, Owen Davis was commanding on his own ball in the lineout, and David Nolan taking some important Scouts ball. Andy Beattie was kicking well for position again putting pressure on the Scouts defence, a penalty to S&L set up a line out 8 metres out, Davis again winning the ball, S&L drove the Scouts pack over the line, giving Ian Gilmour his try, Lindsay adding the extras.
S&L were the hungriest side out of the 2, and from good line out ball 20 metres out, as Scouts were expecting the drive, skipper Milan Crooks peeled and drove over the line leaving 2 would be tacklers spread eagled, again Lindsay added the extras.
This win leaves S&L still in 3 rd place as Scouts points difference is superior.
